It All Started Here!

An aquarium

In my living room!

These are pictures of my original Tilapia farm in Orlando.

This is 125 gallon aquarium that I was thinking of getting rid of before I found out about Tilapia Farming. Or, "the breeding grounds" as I affectionally call it. I kept 1 male Hornorum and 5 female Mossambica breeders here. Notice the flowerpot "arena", and the PVC pipe hiding spots. I have since found that it is better to place the flower pot facing the side wall of the aquarium and the PVC pipes also facing side to side not front to back as pictured here. The flowerpot will become the male's "office". He will bring a female there after courtship in order to have some privacy while she lays her eggs and he fertilizes them.

The segments of PVC pipe are used by the females in order to hide from the male when they are "not in the mood". That is the reason for having five females; he would kill a female in a matter of days if she was the only one in the tank.
